A reminder our MIG meeting for August is on Monday. Our topic for the month is Wallets, Payments & Commerce – A fresh look at mobile money. We have a couple of talks lined up:

Colin Weir (CEO ) & Dave Durbin (CTO) from Moroku will present their view of how software will eat the hardware world of mobile payments. Moroku is a software company that operates at the intersection of mobile, gaming and social to create engaging banking and payment experiences that promote customer learning and brand loyalty.

Colin is a business leader with 25 years of experience in financial services software.

Dave is an ICT professional with over 20 years’ experience working at the leading edge of innovation, primarily in banking and telcos.

Sean Marshall will talk about how the banks split issuing and acquiring, and the opportunities that creates. He’ll also talk about how the banks want to use blockchain to solve complex experiences in point of sale and issues merchants are trying to address in the POS experience, like identification and loyalty, alternate payment methods, and marketing attribution.

Sean is a product manager and ecosystem builder with a passion for startups and fintech. Most recently Sean built the developer ecosystem for Commonwealth Bank’s new Albert platform, building their proprietary app store Pi Appbank, partnering with startups in the retail and hospitality sectors, and consulting to large clients on innovating their point of sale experiences. Prior to CBA Sean launched Artesian Capital’s VentureCrowd platform, the StartNest coworking space, and has mentored dozens of startups.
