Moroku Tokenator (MTK) provides a lightweight service that connects Chore Scout to a Financial Institution’s (FI’s) online banking infrastructure. Tokenator allows Chore Scout to seamlessly link to a customers online banking in a fast and easy to use way . Moroku Tokenator has been developed to increase the security and usability of the third party service. This new service moves the submission of user credentials completely behind the financial institution’s firewall, supports multiple token types and cleans up the customer experience.
MTK works by using the FI’s existing online or mobile banking infrastructure to produce a secure one time use token that can be scanned or linked to. This will allow the user to link their Chore Scout app securely to their online banking profile and only access the core banking features, if any, that the FI allows. This allows the FI to fully control the access they provide to Chore Scout. The FI can also choose to act as a proxy to MTK and never share core banking access tokens with Moroku Tokenator. The use of Moroku Tokenator also allows a seamless, secure and trustworthy way for customers to use the Chore Scout app. This system does require some integration with the online banking and/or mobile platform of the FI, but is designed to be extremely simple to implement.
Moroku Tokenator can be set up directly on any cloud infrastructure such as AWS or Microsoft Azure via docker containers. Moroku does need access to this though to perform upgrades and general maintenance.
The Moroku Tokenator does not require access to the FI user management systems and the FI has full control over the access that the token service and Chore Scout receives. No personally identifiable user information is ever stored by the Moroku Token Service and the FI provided access tokens are deleted as soon as possible.
